Spectra S2PLUS Breast Pump Now Available at Chambers’ Apothecary

At Chambers’ Apothecary, we take pride in providing all of your medical equipment needs. One in-demand item we’ve had requests for was the Spectra S2Plus Breast Pump.

Let’s talk about the pump features and why it has become one of the leading brands for nursing moms.

The S2Plus was designed to have the quietest motor available, which in the “massage mode” mimics the natural suckling of a baby. It can also be used in single or double pump mode. The pump also includes “backflow protectors” to ensure your milk doesn’t come into contact with any bacteria. It also features “adjustable suction levels” for a more natural flow of milk.

The pump is light, weighing in at only 2.5 pounds, making it easy to move from room to room. This is especially nice when you are on the go or using your pump at work.

The S2PLUS comes with 24mm and 28mm flanges for the perfect fit and comfort. It also includes wide neck bottles, caps and rings for easy milk storage. The last unique feature we will talk about is the built in nightlight. That’s right…you’re middle of the night pump breaks just got a whole lot easier!

Spectra also has an upgraded version of this pump, the S1. The biggest difference between these two pumps is that the S1 has a battery pack and recharges quickly for busy moms on the go. This version is available with an upgrade fee.

We are contracted with most insurance companies and we are happy to help navigate your benefits. Please call or stop in to speak with one of our DME Specialists!

iMedicare is Back!

iMedicare is back and just in time for the 2019 year! If you aren’t familiar with this FREE service, it’s something that Chambers’ Apothecary offers each year to help our senior patients nagivate the variety of Part D (prescription drug) plans out there to ensure they are choosing the right one to fit their needs and budget.

In most cases, you can make changes to your Medicare Part D plan each year during the fall open enrollment period, which takes place from October 15 to December 7. Additionally, plans do change on a yearly basis, so it’s important to verify if your current plan will remain the same. In a situation where changes take place that may no longer benefit you, shopping around for another plan is an option, and we’re here to help!

Nancy Mazariegos, our iMedicare specialist, has offered this program at Chambers’ since 2014. “For the past 4 years we’ve been saving our patients money by finding the best plan that meets their financial needs while maintaining all the services they’ve come to love and appreciate.”

So how does it all work? All you have to do is spare about 30 to 45 minutes for you appointment. Nancy will pull up your information and the available plans so you can compare and contrast what is available, what has changed, and what you should choose moving forward.

Call today (717) 263-0747 to make an appointment with Nancy. Deadline to choose a plan for the 2019 year is December 7.

Chambers’ Wellness Center: What’s New and What You Can Look Forward To

We’ve written about our Wellness Center before, but we are still very excited about it. It was a major project that we started in 2017, and we will continue to add services and offerings throughout 2018.

Be sure to follow Chambers’ Wellness Center on Facebook to stay up-to-date with our Guided Meditations and Yoga in the Cave sessions.

Randi Weist discusses how Chambers’ Wellness Center is a natural expansion of Chambers’ Apothecary’s service offerings and some of the new events that we’ll be unveiling in the future.

Chambers’ Wellness Center

  • What’s New?

Chambers’ Wellness Center formally opened in October, and it is located on the second floor of the Chambers’ Apothecary. We offer a variety of holistic wellness therapies to promote optimal health while helping you achieve your goals. We are already becoming famous in the Chambersburg area for our Himalayan Salt Cave as well as our Infrared Sauna, Ionic Foot Baths, and Massage Therapies, which you can learn more about here. Also, in 2017, I checked off one of my own long-term goals by achieving my Doctorate of Naturopathy, which expands the nutritional support, educational services and consultations that I can provide in our brand-new facility.

  • What Should I Expect?

During your visit to Chambers’ Wellness Center, our Wellness Support Specialists will treat you as well as you should be treating yourself every day. We maintain a clean and serene environment from when you’re greeted at the reception desk throughout your entire visit. We offer packages that are contoured to our customer’s needs so you can stop in for a single session or spend a day recharging and investing in your wellness.

  • What Does the Future Hold?

At the very end of 2017, and even more so now, we began introducing scheduled, themed events in our Himalayan Salt Cave. So far we’ve done a few sessions of Yoga in the Cave, which combines the relaxing effects of yoga with the soothing environment of the cave, and we’ve done a series of Guided Meditations. These have been very successful, so in 2018 we’ll probably continue to roll-out different events that will be announced through our Facebook page. And, of course, we always encourage people to host their own events here like bridal showers, business meetings or other unique ideas.

Chambers’ Apothecary Sponsored “First Friday” in Chambersburg

First Friday Allowed Us to Bring Health and Wellness Education to the Community

On June 2, Randi Weist, our Certified Natural Health Specialist, and Nancy Mazariegos, our Durable Medical Equipment Specialist, celebrated “Health and Wellness” in downtown Chambersburg as part of the Downtown Business Council’s “First Friday” event.

The event was a valuable opportunity to introduce ourselves services to new customers while strengthening our relationships with existing ones. As a local pharmacy and compounding center, we understand that healthy individuals make for a healthy community.

Weist and Mazariegos were on-hand with coloring books for kids as well as information and displays about healing salves, diffusers, bone broth and more.

Additionally, we provided information regarding Lyme Disease, and how we can help get patients on the right track using supplements and nutraceuticals.

We also used this opportunity to give people a preview of what they can expect once we complete our upstairs renovation. Soon we will offer on-site massage therapy, ionic foot baths, and even offer a far infrared sauna. The new space will also be used for consultations and education, making it a valuable addition to our traditional and alternative health services.

We were especially proud to sponsor this event because it let us fulfill what we consider to be one of the primary functions of an apothecary. Traditionally, apothecaries had assumed the role of “caretaker of the community’s health.” Apothecaries were places where people gathered for news of the day while having their ailments relieved.

Where better to discuss the health issues that directly affect our community than in the town square on a sunny June evening?

The event, which ran from 5:00-8:00 p.m., also included live music, demonstrations, prizes and more – including a chance to win a prize package worth over $250.

There was even an artist drawing portraits in the square, which our mascot Cappy took advantage of.

Message From Rob

Here we are almost to the end of the year and holiday season.  It is crazy to think that 2016 is almost already in the books.  We are moving forward with our new natural products and a revitalization of our front end store products.  We have Randi, our natural specialist, starting to do nutrition, herbal therapy, and vitamin supplementation appointments with those seeking extra help to get well.  Our flu vaccinations are still available for walk in patients or by setting up an appointment.  We also can provide other vaccination such as the pneumonia or shingles shot.

I wanted to thank everyone for their continued trust in letting us take care of all your medication needs.  We look forward to helping people live healthier, happier lives.  I want you to take advantage of our knowledge and feel free to ask questions or set up an appointment to have a full sit down conversation about medication, insurance, medical equipment, vaccinations, compounding, or supplements. We keep progressing to become more clinical and involved in your healthcare.  Thanks as always,

Dr Rob Norris, PharmD
